Provincetown

I have had the pleasure of being involved in the Provincetown community for over ten years, spending numerous weeks each year in town and working with a variety of businesses and visiting entertainers during this time. After starting my marketing company over 15 years ago, I have tailored my business to both the tourism and LGBTQ markets (and intersection of both.) During this time, I have worked closely with large LGBTQ travel brands such as Atlantis Events, RSVP Vacations, and R Family Vacations as well as smaller LGBTQ tour operators. My scope of work with these companies has ranged from PR and marketing efforts, promotional campaigns, strategy, digital campaigns, and media/influencer relations. I have also had the opportunity to make connections with many entertainers and media affiliates through this time.

In Provincetown, I have worked with Lexvest Group to coordinate all PR and marketing efforts for their properties including Cape Colony Inn, Breakwater Hotel, and Truro Beach Cottages. From a PR perspective, this has included press/media connections, events with local personalities and businesses, and overall community outreach. From this experience, I have had the opportunity to meet many of the local business owners and established a known presence in the Provincetown community.

Two years ago, I expanded my travel connections by branching into travel planning with the prestigious agency, Protravel International. This has allowed me to broaden my industry connections and better understand the many facets of the industry and tourism markets. I also have had the opportunity to participate in numerous FAM trips during this time and met an exceptional network of agents that would be strong connections for the Provincetown market. By attending industry events throughout the United States and internationally, I have established connections in the industry that would be beneficial to my position in building tourism in Provincetown. This includes media, influencers, tour operators, and travel professionals.

Below you will find some examples of my work that I think tie directly into your Public Relations & Communications position. I have also included some references that I think offer a nice snapshot of my work and experiences. Please let me know what additional information I can provide for you and I thank you again for this opportunity.

Events

I have coordinated a variety of events and functions in Provincetown as well as in other markets. These have included press events, travel functions, FAM trips, and more. Below are a few examples of some of these activities:

Amazing Cape Quest

For several years, I coordinated the Amazing Cape Quest throughout Provincetown as a promotional activity for Cape Colony Inn. The successful event included a scavenger-hunt type race throughout Ptown, engaging area businesses and vendors. Contestants came from all over the area and the race ended at Cape Colony Inn where refreshments were provided by Farlands. The event received strong press and was well received by area businesses. Here is a press release about the event. Below are some photos:

Malcolm Events with Miss Richfield 1981

After Cape Colony Inn was remodeled by the new owners, I have coordinated an annual event hosted by Malcolm Neitzey, the cruise director for Atlantis Events, the biggest gay travel company in the world. This has included games at the property, community engagement and giveaways, entertainer popups (such as Miss Richfield 1981) and more. The events have seen great success in broadening the scope of clientele at the property in addition to gaining attention with LGBTQ travelers through Atlantis tie-ins.

Anne Steele - Provincetown Carnival

After the Pulse Nightclub tragedy, award winning New York-based singer/songwriter, Anne Steele wrote and produced a song entitled “Love Can Take Us There” with all proceeds benefiting the victims. She was invited to perform and participate in the 2016 Provincetown Carnival where her song became the official Carnival anthem. Because of my connection, I was able to coordinate with the property to offer complimentary downloads to all guests during Carnival Week with a donation being made to the organization as well.
