Why the best real estate agents wear Chanel - Inman News

You don't have to wear couture, but you should always present your best self to the world.

OK, so maybe Chanel is a bit of an exaggeration, but the brand has long been a pinnacle of fashion and renowned as an icon in its industry for one wanting to look their best.

And that is the point: I think it’s important that you as an agent hit the ground each day and meet with clients.

What image are you putting out there with the clothing you are wearing each day?

Image has been something those in the real estate industry have considered since the profession originated. In fact, there was just an article about whether agents should drive an expensive car on Inman.

Many agents think it’s important to showcase their success through status symbols in order to attract new business and build confidence in their abilities. They also buy expensive clothes, get their hair done and their nails manicured — all to present the best image of themselves possible to clients.

“Do these things really matter?”

In a word, “Yes!”

You might not need Chanel, but it’s important to always consider how you are presenting yourself in public at all times. I am honestly amazed how many times I witness agents running to a showing after the gym (with or without showering) or showing up at an office in flip-flops.

Your brand — your business — is you, and, just like any other brand, you should put your best foot forward at all times. This means any second you are in front of a client, potential client or co-worker.

Looking the part instills confidence and respect in others and helps them feel more comfortable with you as an agent. It also helps you stand out from your competition as a professional who will represent them in one of the biggest transactions of their lives.

You never know who you are going to run into out there — make sure you take the time to look your best.
